AC/DC ‘BACK IN BLACK’ LP

Out of great tragedy came one of hard rocks most essential listens. Just shortly into the making of their seventh full-length release, the Aussie rockers frontman Bon Scott succumbed to a deadly bout of alcohol poisoning. While AC/DC contemplated calling it quits, they pressed on with new vocalist Brian Johnson and proceeded to lay down a strong, spirited and hooks-heavy collection yielding bawdy mega-hits (You Shook Me All Night Long), electric-charged bangabouts (Shoot to Thrill) and an in-the-red anthem about the power of persistence (Back in Black). One of the best-selling albums of all time, naturally ready to be spun on classic black wax.

Vinyl LP pressing. 2003 digital re-master of the Australian rockers’ seventh album. Released in July, 1980, Back in Black was the first AC/DC album recorded without former lead singer Bon Scott, who died in February of that year. Back in Black was the first album to feature vocalist Brian Johnson, formerly of Geordie. Producer Robert John “Mutt” Lange, who had previously worked with AC/DC on Highway to Hell, was again brought in to produce. The album was recorded at Compass Point Studios in Nassau, Bahamas, and Electric Lady Studios in New York, where the album was also mixed.
